E.L.F. Zone EMF Detector by Enzone - Will measure ELF magnetic fields in the frequency range of 20 - 10,000 Hz, with a sensitivity of 2.5 mG. Laboratory tested and documented for accuracy. Three LED lights signal field strength: 0 - 2.5 mG ("safe") 2.5 -7 mG ("caution") 8 or more mG ("danger") The ELF mean Extremely Low Frequency and this is what is used to measure EMF. Since Electromagnetic Fields are in the Extremely Low Frequency Bandwidth, Paranormal events sometimes disturb that and cause fluxuations of normal enviorment readings. By using an EMF Detector, you can see these fluxuations in real time and be able to see the stronger or weaker entities passing threw the normal intruments field.

Gauss Master™ aka Dr. Gauss - This meter operates with an easy-to-read, analog scale with a range of 0-10 milligauss. In most cases, the yellow portion of the scale points to readings which may be supernatural in origin. The device is activated by punching the panel on the side of the meter.
CellSensor™ - Calibrated at 835 MHz (with an accuracy of ±3dB), the RF meter measures the intensity of radiation from cellular as well as GSM mobile phones. Two analog scales: HIGH sensitivity 0-1 mW/cm², and NORMAL sensitivity 0-10 mW/cm². Gaussmeter feature is calibrated around 50/60 Hz and also offers 2 scales: 0-5 and 0-50 mG plus audio sound which corresponds to field strength. Remote probe with 2 foot extension cord allows user great flexibility and reach. Both RF and gaussmeter provide audio sound and large flashing light which corresponds to field strength.
Budget Buzz Stick - This is a VERY simple home made ELF detector. Common ELF magnetic field frequencies are within the range of human hearing. This simple set up converts the AC magnetic signal directly into a dramatic corresponding sound signal. A 60 Hz powerline field sounds like a 60 Hz hum (a low note on piano keyboard). Harmonics can easily be heard, as well as clicks, static, and hash. LED displays are especially noisy. The strength of the field is proportional to loudness. Unit includes a single axis probe on 2 foot cable and audio amplifier with adjustable volume. An optional earphone/headset can be used for discreet operation. Extremely simple to use to “sniff out” sources of interference, offending EMF, & check shielding designs.

Relative Humidity & Temperature Sensor - Thermometers are great to detect changes in room temperature. One of the pitfalls of the non-contact "point and shoot" thermometers is that you do not get a true reading of the actual room temperature, you are only getting an accurate measurement of surface temperatures without contact. With the large display, this model could be placed in plain sight in view of a video camera or in a room with investigators. Knowing the humidity of a location is important for several reasons, but one of the most important is any photos taken during periods of high humidity may cause tiny drops of moisture to form on the lens of a camera which may appear as orbs. Also, high humidity may reduce the effectiveness and accuracy of IR Thermometers.

Strobe Light - The use of a strobe light in a paranormal investigation is helpful in slowing down the visual frequency of any manifesting apparitions, since ghosts and spirits tend to function on one much higher than ours in the physical plane. A strobe light's flash can simulate the effect of a camera shutter by isolating that which otherwise moves too fast for the human brain to perceive. During an investigation it can be beneficial to turn on a strobe in a hot spot on high speed while observed.

Victoreen CD V-715 Model 1A Survey Meter - Geiger counters and survey meters have been shown to be effective in paranormal investigations since the 1970s, and they are recommended equipment for every ghost hunter. Having said that, I want to point out a few things about this particular model since I recently saw some "ghost hunters" dragging them around on television. The CD V-715 is a radiation meter, not a Geiger counter. When I first purchased it, I was led to believe that it was indeed a Geiger counter. Lesson learned, do your research before you make a purchase! Luckily for me, I purchased three for less than $50 from a surplus supplier, but I have seen this exact model sold elsewhere on the Internet as a Geiger counter for close to $100 for one. This radiation meter was designed to be used by radiological Civil Defense personnel in determining radioactive contamination levels that may result from an enemy attack or other nuclear disasters. This is a high-range industrial strength ionizing radiation meter. It's probably the most known (or the second) radiation meter. This unit is powered by one D cell and can operate about 150 hours. It's watertight, made from die cast aluminum, and has a drawn steel case that is built to resist shock and vibration damage! Unfortunately, it measures only extremely high levels of gamma radiation. The V-715 was stocked in Civil Defense shelters back in the 50s and 60s, and most have not been used or calibrated since. Some, like the one I purchased, are "new in the box" and have most likely NEVER been tested or calibrated. Of course, calibrating one would require a source of lethal radiation, so it's not something you can attempt at home. It reads up to 500 RADS, which is quite simply enough radiation to kill a person. The V-715 will NOT detect low-levels of radiation, so it's really not very useful for my needs other than that it looks cool. They're for the most part interesting for their historical value, and make a nice collector's item. If you're ever in a situation where you need this device, monitoring background radiation will be the least of your worries. However, if you are ever hit with a "Dirty Bomb" or a nuclear incident or act of sabotage occurs at your nearby Nuclear power plant, this is one of the devices you can use to determine when you need to "get the Hell out of there". This is a piece of equipment like a smoke detector or fire extinguisher; you don't use it until you need it. They are unaffected by EMP (electro magnetic pulse), which is a phenomenon created by an atomic detonation that will render most electrical systems inoperative. I do keep one with me, and it is in my ghost kit, but if anyone is interested in purchasing this beauty from the atomic age, feel free to contact me! |
